Wanted: Clean and Safe Water

The images that Americans see of third world nations are dreadful and frightening. The media shows us images of poverty, hunger, and despair that seem very far from home. We see children who are malnourished and entire families who are infected with life threatening diseases. We see people living in deplorable and unsanitary environments and we recognize that something has to be done. We cannot rely on our government to do it. We must respond as individual citizens and share our wealth and knowledge with those who are most in need. Consider donating to Global Water. There are a number of different ways that you can participate in Global Water. There are opportunities for giving that are designed around your special talents. Beyond writing a check there are many creative ways for you to participate in this important organization. If you enjoy running or creating music there is a way for you to donate to Global Water. If you are an artist or a song writer or a business executive there is a way to participate in Global Water. There is simply no reason for you not to participate.

As you might have read before, Global Water is making a difference in the lives of people in third world countries. Drilling wells, installing pumps, and creating water supplies that are free of bacteria is an expensive endeavor with an immeasurable benefit.

There are 1 billion people on the planet without a safe water supply. This is an important issue and Global Water needs more supporters to continue its mission. We must wake up Americans and bring them to action for a global cause. Clean running water is an essential human right. How do we bring attention to this cause? In Boston hundreds of volunteers assembled a beautifully lit up room that displayed 50 billion water bottles caps. This depicted the number of water bottles that some of the Americans wastefully use yearly.

Above: image of an exhibit at the John B. Hynes Memorial Convention Center on 900 Boylston Street in Boston on April 9, 10, and 11. People gathered from colleges, high schools, and other public venues helped to produce this memorial to those who die every day from preventable, water-related diseases because clean water is not available.

Artists are not the only group who has become involved with Global Water. Recently LA marathon runners raised money for water projects. Plumbers or water companies can provide supplies as a donation. A company called Clearly Canadian Beverage Company partnered with Global Water to raise money through corporate donations and fundraising events. Their goal is to create safe water supply routes in Central America and South America. The list of ways to get involved does not stop. The issue of unsafe drinking water effects as many as 1 billion therefore the smallest donation or good deed will be helpful.

To the Right: LA marathon runners are participating in a event to raise money. Participants enjoy running the event and at the same time they are raising money for a good cause.

Global Water’s intention is to help as many people in need as possible. Think of all the ways you can get involved. CLICK ON THIS LINK NOW: https://npo.networkforgood.org/Donate/Donate.aspx?npoSubscriptionId=1002670&code=website%20homepage

Global Water Helping the Global Population.

Everyday we receive phone calls and mail providing us with information about different non-profit organizations. What exactly are these organizations hoping for when they ask for donations or send out a flyer? The answer to that question is these organizations need both support and a crew of volunteers to help them accomplish their mission. Global Water needs exactly that. The billion people suffering around the world without safe water is our chief concern. We can make an important difference if we support Global Water in its efforts to bring clean water to communities in need. Global Water raises money to drill wells, install hand pumps, and provide programs and materials to increase hygiene and health through education.

Water is essential for daily living. Think about how easy it is to get a cold drink of water or how easy it is to wash your hands. Think of all the people this organization is affecting by simply adding a safe water supply. Think of all the people that will be spared from contracting an infectious disease by adding a safe, accessible clean supply of water to their community.

The hyperlink below is short video clip of actor Orlando Bloom speaking about his experience with unsafe drinking water in a developing country. He was stationed in Nepal where he discovered firsthand the situation that communities around the globe must endure daily. Watch this clip. It will help you to visualize the dire need for safe, clean drinking water.

Global water is an extremely generous organization. The organization works diligently to bring safe drinking and bathing water to communities in need. The goals of the organization are realistic, effective and sustainable. Americans are accustomed to walking into the bathroom or kitchen and using the water supply directly attached to their home. Now, imagine if you lived in a country like Nepal. The water supply would not be connected to your home. You would have to send your daughter or son to fetch water from a remote location that could be a mile or two away from your home. You would have to wait for water to arrive to continue chores at home. You could not wash the clothes, clean the dishes, prepare tea nor boil water for cooking. After the children gathered the water they would begin the mile long journey back home. And when the children arrived home the water that they carried would most likely be a 25lb jug infested with bacteria!

Above: This image is of four young girls who are carrying water jugs back to their village. Since there is no local water source they girls must carry jugs weighing as much as 25 lbs. Their journey back home could be at least a mile home. With the help of Global Water these young girls would have a safe and close water source directly in their village.

Global Water understands the importance of helping third world countries. Global Water’s trained volunteers travel to these developing countries to establish a safe water supply in the communities most in need. Of course their goal is to bring clean water to all people across the planet, but they are beginning one village at a time.

Global Water has achieved numerous successes as their completed projects now span the entire world. In recent years, Global Water brought water to rural villagers in Honduras. They provided funding for five water well drilling projects. All of the wells were completed with hand pumps and each well was basically associated with a village consisting of 15 to 25 adobe hut home with a total of up to 150 people per village. This remote village is an excellent example of how this organization is bringing safe, clean water to a large amount of people.

Above: This is an image of a young girl whose life was recently effected by the installation of a water pump. The young girl and her family can now put their minds at ease that they will no longer be inflicted with harm from drinking the local water.

Simple acts of kindness are completed each day. Local acts of kindness are accomplished without thinking. We open doors for people. We help a friend study for an exam. We make charitable donations and we support a friend in need. Global acts of kindness require more thought because they require us to think about things we do not see every day.

Join Global Water in its efforts to change the lives of people in other countries. We are very fortunate in America. But our fortune should not obscure the need to think globally. Changing the water conditions for communities in developing countries saves lives and creates a future for people all over the globe. We must start one village at a time.

Lack of a Basic Need: Water

Hunger, disease, and pain are all words that are uncomfortable to hear; however, they are the words that are usually associated with developing countries. Most Americans do not travel for the purposes of understanding the global condition. Americans typically travel for vacation to enjoy prosperity in the form of relaxation, luxury, culture, cuisine and recreation. My path has been different. First hand, I have been able to travel to some of these developing countries and see the lack of infrastructure.

Everyday we as United States citizens carry on our lives. We notice the weather, if there is enough gas in your car to get to work or school, but we take for granted that we have water to drink for the day. Fortunately, the United States is structured in a way that for most of its citizens clean, running water for consumption and hygiene is not a problem. The government realizes that water is essential for day to day life and works hard to keep our supply clean and running in the city and rural communities across the US.

Global Water is an organization that makes it possible for third world countries to have the same safe water opportunities as we do. This is an extremely important organization. One billion people are exposed to unsafe drinking water. The hardships that families and children are forced to overcome due to a lack of a basic need are endless.

Above: the children are physically collecting water from the closet supply of water They are unknowingly consuming water that may or may not have life threatening effects.

Picture trying to get to work on time after having walked about a mile to a water supply. Imaginedrinking the water available that is close to your home but knowing it may cause health problems and diseases. This is the situation that most certainly exists in developing countries. These developing countries, which include Sudan,Honduras, Guatemala, and many others are in this condition now.

Global Water’s intention is to change the individual’s effected by unsafe and unclean water. Volunteers and supporters go into the rural communities that are struggling daily and create safe drinking water supply routes for members of the community. Water is a basic need and we should support their efforts in changing one community at a time.
